Overview
Battery Balancer – Protect and Extend the Life of Your Battery Bank
In multi-battery systems, small differences between batteries can lead to major long-term damage. When batteries are connected in series or parallel, even a slight variation in internal leakage or state of charge can cause some batteries to be overcharged while others are undercharged.
Over time, this results in:
- Overcharging and excessive gassing in higher-voltage batteries
- Undercharging and sulphation in lower-voltage batteries
- Reduced performance and shortened overall battery life
This issue is especially common in 24V and 48V systems, and even more likely when adding new batteries to an existing bank.
The Battery Balancer solves this by actively equalizing the state of charge between batteries. By keeping all batteries aligned, it helps prevent damage, improves system performance, and extends the usable life of your battery bank.
Features
Active Battery Balancing
Continuously monitors and balances two series-connected 12V batteries (or multiple parallel strings), ensuring consistent state of charge across the system.
Automatic Operation
Activates when system voltage exceeds 27.3V and automatically begins correcting voltage differences between batteries.
Prevents Battery Damage
Reduces risk of overcharging, undercharging, sulphation, and excessive gassing—common causes of premature battery failure.
Scalable for Larger Systems
Multiple units can be used together. A 48V battery bank can be balanced using three Battery Balancers.
LED Status Indicators
Provides clear system visibility:
- Green: Active (system voltage above threshold)
- Orange: Balancing active on upper or lower battery leg
- Red: Alarm condition for significant imbalance
Integrated Alarm Relay
Normally open relay closes during alarm conditions, allowing integration with external monitoring or shutdown systems.
Manual Alarm Reset
Includes terminals for an external push-button reset. System automatically resumes monitoring after alarm conditions are resolved.
Compatible with Midpoint Monitoring
Works alongside advanced monitoring systems (such as midpoint monitoring) for deeper insight into battery health and balance.
