Pepwave Mobile Routers

Before we get into the specifics of the Pepwave Mobile Routers, let’s look at some terms you may encounter along the way:

Modem

Every Pepwave Mobile Router has at least one modem, and some have two.  Each modem requires a cellular SIM card which allows the device to receive wireless internet access through a cellular connection.

WiFi-as-WAN

When you connect to a wireless internet source, like a campground or home internet, you are using WiFi-as-WAN capabilities in either 2.4GHz or 5Ghz.  Dual-band WiFi-as-WAN can connect using both 2.4 GHz and 5GHz bands.

Cellular Bands

Cellular carriers have been assigned specific cellular frequency bands and they are designated as a number. There are also specific frequency bands for 4G LTE and for 5G cell signals. Pepwave auto-selects the best cellular bands in the area, but also allows you to select your cellular bands if you choose to.

Categories

Routers have modems that are assigned a category based on their specs and their capability as a way to quickly compare them. The higher category results in faster speeds. TechnoRV carries Pepwave routers that range from Cat 7 to Cat 20.

Carrier Aggregation

Carrier Aggregation (CA) happens when multiple cellular frequency bands are combined to increase bandwidth which can support faster speeds from the modem. Carrier Aggregation can range from 2x CA on the Cat 7 routers to 7x CA on the Cat 20 routers.

Failover

Failover occurs when a single modem loses connection to a cellular signal and switches to another available source. There is a brief interruption in service while it does this.  If a router has dual modems with 2 cellular plans installed, it can do a “hot failover” which allows it to immediately and without any interruption switch to the other cellular modem. Hot failover is critical when doing video calls since failover alone would interrupt the connection.

What Pepwave Mobile Router is right for you?

How many carriers do you want access to? If you only want to travel with one carrier, then a single modem router is all you need.  There are three single-modem Pepwave routers (Cat 7, Cat 20, and 5G Cat 20).  Any of these Pepwave routers would be perfect for utilizing a single carrier. If you have multiple carrier plans, there is one Pepwave dual-modem router (Cat 7 / Cat 12) which would allow you to have hot failover and other unique features which allow you to utilize 2 cellular plans at the same time.

Data Plans for Pepwave

In our journey with mobile internet, we realized that getting reliable data for the road isn’t as easy as going into a local cellular store, buying a data plan, and popping it into the Pepwave. Many stores don’t even understand what you are asking for when you ask for a SIM for a mobile router, and worse, their data plans aren’t large enough and are too expensive for the amount of data needed on the road.

Even if you can get a SIM card from a store, each SIM card requires an IMEI number from the device you will be using it in, and not all SIM cards work with mobile routers.  For this reason, you need a dependable plan from a major carrier that's made for a Pepwave mobile router. And that’s where TechnoRV comes in.

We partnered with two of the most recommended cellular networks for RVers to provide large data plans at an affordable cost that are designed to work with the Pepwave routers.  You can choose a plan from the Red Network or the Pink Network, or choose a combined plan both to increase your coverage map and data allowance.  TechnoRV is a one-stop shop for your mobile internet needs from our Pepwave routers, reliable data plans, and 5-star customer service.  If you have a problem with your mobile internet setup from us, just give us a call and we will take care of you!

★★★★★

WOW! I purchased the Techno RV Premium plan and opted for the Verizon version. I received it just a few days before departing for a 3 week/5000 mile journey in our new Airstream. Techno RV programmed the SIM  and it worked immediately. I went through 9 states and had cell/internet coverage everywhere. This is not surprising coming out of Techno RV. Awesome service and support and just really nice people!

These cards are great! Plenty of data, and the speed is the best. We use them for live broadcasts and they never fail. Even in crowded areas they just keep going. A REAL MUST HAVE IF TRAVELING.

Perfect plan for my wife and I on the road. Works great in my Peplink and activation is a breeze. Easy to self-manage on the website too. Always love the quick and helpful customer service.
