TechnoRV Mobile Internet
TechnoRV Mobile Internet
We started our full-time RV journey back in 2014 and have encountered every possible internet problem you can imagine over the years, so we know what you are going through! If we can run our entire internet business from the road, we know we can help you solve your mobile internet needs.
Regardless of your level of technology experience, there is a plan that is right for you at TechnoRV. It can seem overwhelming with all the tech jargon, but our team of experts are going to be with you every step of the way!
Cellular is by far the most reliable way to access the internet while traveling the US. You can access cellular data using a phone, tablet, mobile hotspot or a mobile router. Personal cellular devices are great, but if you want to provide your entire RV with internet, you need a mobile router like the Pepwave.
A mobile router allows you to combine and manage multiple internet connections, like campground WiFi, cellular plans, satellite, and even ethernet all into one private WiFi network within your RV. You can set data limits, prioritize connections, and access multiple cellular bands to increase speeds. With a dedicated router in your RV, you can maintain a constant source of internet for all of your phones, computers, monitoring devices, TVs, and more!
Pepwave routers can utilize up to 4 SIM cards (data plans) and manage them all from one login and password. In addition, it can manage multiple WiFi connections and ethernet connections. Having a cellular router helps users who have multiple hotspot devices for different carriers since it eliminates the need to log in to different hotspots to find the best connection. The Pepwave also allows you to set limits on individual plans, use multiple plans at the same time, and more. Because it has a more powerful WiFi adapter than your phone and laptop, it helps with your connection to campground WiFi as well.
Before we get into the specifics of the Pepwave Mobile Routers, let’s look at some terms you may encounter along the way:
How many carriers do you want access to? If you only want to travel with one carrier, then a single modem router is all you need. There are three single-modem Pepwave routers (Cat 7, Cat 20, and 5G Cat 20). Any of these Pepwave routers would be perfect for utilizing a single carrier. If you have multiple carrier plans, there is one Pepwave dual-modem router (Cat 7 / Cat 12) which would allow you to have hot failover and other unique features which allow you to utilize 2 cellular plans at the same time.
How important is your internet speed? All of the Pepwave routers have the capabilities to provide more than enough speed to do anything you would need, but the higher you go in Categories (and price), the higher the theoretical speeds increase as well.
Do you want to utilize WiFi-as-WAN to connect wirelessly to available internet sources? All of the Pepwave routers have the ability to connect to campground or home internet, although the Pepwave Cat 7 BR1 Mini requires the purchase of an additional license to do this.
In our journey with mobile internet, we realized that getting reliable data for the road isn’t as easy as going into a local cellular store, buying a data plan, and popping it into the Pepwave. Many stores don’t even understand what you are asking for when you ask for a SIM for a mobile router, and worse, their data plans aren’t large enough and are too expensive for the amount of data needed on the road.
Even if you can get a SIM card from a store, each SIM card requires an IMEI number from the device you will be using it in, and not all SIM cards work with mobile routers. For this reason, you need a dependable plan from a major carrier that's made for a Pepwave mobile router. And that’s where TechnoRV comes in.
We partnered with two of the most recommended cellular networks for RVers to provide large data plans at an affordable cost that are designed to work with the Pepwave routers. You can choose a plan from the Red Network or the Pink Network, or choose a combined plan both to increase your coverage map and data allowance. TechnoRV is a one-stop shop for your mobile internet needs from our Pepwave routers, reliable data plans, and 5-star customer service. If you have a problem with your mobile internet setup from us, just give us a call and we will take care of you!
We offer several data plans at TechnoRV, ranging from 300GB to 650GB with speeds from 25 Mbps to 50 Mbps. Most RVers can do just about anything with 25 Mbps, but faster speeds are always helpful when multiple users are accessing the internet at the same time.
To give you an idea of speed requirements, consider the following:
The average RVer uses 100-300 GB of data per month browsing the internet, streaming TV, and enjoying social media. Our base plan offers 300GB of data, which is more than enough for most users. If you regularly use more than 300GB per month, you can easily choose a larger plan that provides an additional SIM card to use in your Pepwave router. Remember, all Pepwave routers accept at least 2 SIM cards, and the dual-modem can accept up to 4.
Not sure how much data you use? Video streaming is the biggest consumer of data and is the best place to start when estimating your data needs. One hour of SD video uses 0.5 GB per hour while HD video consumes 1.1 GB per hour. This means that if you watch 4 hours of HD video every day, you will use about 132 GB of data while the same amount of video on SD will use 60 GB of data. As you can see, video resolution is the easiest way to conserve data usage on the road.
